Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) in Northalsted, Chicago was founded in 1974 and is now one of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ) organizations. With an annual budget of over $22 million, the agency serves more than 18,000 adults and youth each year in its diverse health and social service delivery system focused around seven major programmatic divisions: primary medical care, behavioral health, research, HIV/STD prevention, youth services, elder services, and community initiatives. HBHC serve men and women, infants, youth, and children through a multi-site operation based in Chicago.

This was my best experience in healthcare ever. Dr Long was so easy to trust that my 24-year-old child, who has never been able to speak to a doctor without me in the room before, told him everything. The phlebotomist took 6 viles of blood and didn't even leave a bruise. It was an environment of complete acceptance and non-judgment. All of my concerns were taken seriously. Everyone from the people taking appointments to billing to the healthcare professionals is a wonderful human being. Thank you so much for the work that you do.

They are great. Darcey was my NP and she spent a lot of time with me. She is very thorough and helped me on the road to better health. If you are looking for individual care and people who take the time to listen and investigate your symptoms, this is the place for you. When one med did not work for me she found one that did work. The staff is patient, kind and friendly. Always there for you and appointments are easy to get.

One of the best places in the Chicagoland area. For the last 7 years now i received consultations and clinical help regarding my meds. Dr Cory helped find the right meds for my Autoimmune disorders(HIV). He helped me stay in check. I would recomend this place over all. Only thing they need to improve is scheduling, very slow on answering phones and sceduling sometimes despite urgency, takes over a month.

Affirming, informative, safe and comforting experience! They take temporary Medicaid insurance papers!! Got a checkup and IUD for FREE based on my pending Medicaid status and low income. Everyone was nice and helpful. It shows that these people here truly want to help others in need. As a non-binary AFAB person, I felt safe and respected

ATTENTION: COVID-19 TESTS TAKE UP TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR RESULTS TO APPEAR.Originally I left a negative review because I wasn't informed about the turnaround time for testing. It turns out my results came back in two days, which completely saved my butt. I went back because there were no clinics testing in my area; I waited in line for 30 minutes before I found out that testing wouldn't even start for another 35 minutes. At no point do they indicate this online or at the testing site - you have to talk to them in person, despite most personnel residing inside the clinic, while the testing area is outside - but they recently started testing only between 10 AM and noon, and then again between 2 and 4. After waiting for more than an hour and giving up on the broken app they encourage people to use to check in ahead of time, I was told that they were going to start restricting free testing soon only to those who had come in contact with virus carriers or had symptoms after I told them I hadn't come in contact with a carrier to my knowledge. I understand why they're making tests more restrictive, but I found their response to be flippant and dismissive; without getting into details, someone very close to me is particularly vulnerable to COVID so it's very important that I ensure I'm safe.Besides the copious communication issues, staff were for the most part efficient and friendly. They're providing a crucial service during a time of crisis, but if you have the means, find another clinic to get COVID tests. It may be free, but they're clearly overwhelmed and if you have insurance/can afford a test, you're better off going somewhere else. Otherwise, be prepared to wait more than an hour while being treated like cattle.

I had an amazing experience today at this clinic. They took care of me so well especially the front desk, Abby, and the pharmacy tech.The phlebotomist was amazing too; I barely felt anything during the blood test! If blood tests were all like the one I took today, I wouldn't mind blood tests as much! I highly recommend this location, everyone was so nice and supportive. It's so convenient that they have a Walgreen's inside the clinic. They are also low income friendly.

The staff are very friendly and always answer any questions. Howard Brown is the most LGBT friendly health network I’ve ever interacted with! I recommended them for testing or as your main healthcare provider

I can't speak highly enough of Howard Brown and the people who work there. They take care not to deadname trans people even if their deadname is still their legal name. I live in Michigan and would've needed a letter from a therapist before starting HRT–instead, I drove to HB and walked out with prescriptions the same day. Dr. Kvasnicka saved my life, I think.

Just the best! I've been seeing Dr. Gibbons for almost a year and a half and everything about this office is awesome. They're so supportive of every kind of identity, working through complex health needs, general care, and their nursing and reception staff are some of my favorite people I work with in my health care (which is a lot of people!). God, please, if you are trans and need health care, definitely come here or to another Howard Brown location.

People should give them 5 starts... what's up with people that give them the 3 and 4 starts .. starting to say the something went wrong with the service but at the end of the day they left happy n still have the time to put a 3 or 4 starts that's is ridiculous... people should have some kind of common sense for the people that works there .. they r doing the best work that can do and on top of that sometimes some people work for not enough money or are working because they love to help people n don't care about money... obviously I am a happy client n always feel good with the service they they bring to work
