I have had RCN for over a year and I have been absolutely pleased with their service! There were no pushy sales people trying to push what I did not want, the technician arrived on time and any issues I had were resolved quickly and without any pushback! (I was charged an installation fee when I was told it was going to be waived, they removed it from my bill without question when I called to inquire about it). Service has been stellar, we've never had any issues with it! We've been able to download, live stream and browse without any lagging or disruption. I'm so glad RCN is available where I'm moving to because I would be extremely upset if I had to use another company!

As such, I feel well qualified to comment on the level of service that RCN provides. Simply put, RCN's customer service is what you've always wanted from an ISP: efficient, intelligent, forward-thinking, kind, patient, resourceful, and more than willing to give you a deal on your service. Case in point: when I decided to bring my own modem and return RCN's modem, the representative got me set up over the phone in minutes. She also *upgraded our speed* and *cut our bill in half.*
I have been with RCN for nearly a decade now. I have gotten fantastic service from them at all times. Even when there have been problems, they have been proactive in helping fix them. I will remain a loyal customer as long as they keep up the great work and are available in the areas I live in.
Dealing with 4 Internet companies in the past 7 years, I have to give them "5 stars" It is the best provider I have ever had to deal with. Very simple monthly payment with no contracts or hidden fees. Amazing customer service and great internet in overall!!!!
The technicians and the customer service representatives at RCN are so kind and helpful, that you feel as if you were transported to another era; one where people treated each other with kindness and respect. The system that RCN has in place for sending out and tracking a technician is a simple one, but one that’s rarely used. They give you a choice of time frame, but then they boost that by calling you to let you know that your technician is on the way. You also have an option of checking online for the whereabouts of your technician, to see if he, or she, is nearby or has been delayed. These are important features that make life easier. As far as reaching customer service by phone, they also make this more convenient by giving you a call back option, and then really sticking to it. The reps I’ve spoken to were friendly and knew what they were talking about. The technicians who have come to our home were quick and polite and able to answer questions easily. All in all, it’s one of the best companies to deal with on the market today.
In past i worked with three other cable service provider ,result all the same,they take advantage of customer with charges and billing them much more than what they agreed by the phone and most of that happen a few month after first billing. their answer to my complain was :Your contract time is over and this is our new price. Now i am swatch to RCN and i hope to see RCN conducting their business in honesty and moral values be in top of their values. TrulyMoe Jamali
The RCN worker was on time and listened to my specific request to put the cords and Wifi box inside my closet allowing me to have Wifi without all the messy cords and such in my living area. I highly recommend this worker!
RCN was one of my few options as my building's management wouldn't let me look into Chicago's local fiberoptic companies I was interested in. I've never used RCN but the reviews everywhere online are HORRIBLE and made me nervous. About to get my second month's bill and I've had 0 connectivity issues (no super extreme weather yet), but have experienced great customer service.My apartment wasn't cable-ready for RCN and the two technicians who came out to drill into my wall and figure out where the cable was knew exactly where it'd be in my building after the building was renovated. They were extremely friendly and helpful and cleaned up after themselves! After paying my first month's bill I got a $1 charge on my online account and called to ask what that was for. Apparently if you pay online you get a $1 charge and the service agent said I should use the app if I don't want that, but waived the fee so I wouldn't have to deal with paying $1. Odd fee.. but she was nice. If my monthly charges change without notice I'll be changing this review, but I signed up for a 1-year promotion, so I'd hope it doesn't increase before then... every internet company raises their rates after these "promotions", which I think is stupid because I'm going to try to switch companies, but whatever...
Had a weird billing fee because my card expired on my auto pay, and wasn’t able to update that in time for the billing cycle. I called customer service and they answered right away, and gave me a clear explanation on my fee. They also gave me the credit back for it! Being a former Comcast customer I’m very happy with the switch to RCN. Never had internet go out or slow down on me like it would every day with Comcast.
I hear people complaining about that other cable giant constantly, but RCN is excellent. They have always been able to fix a problem in a single phone call, although I’ve had few. Every single time. When they do need to come out, to bring a new box for example, they always come in one day and are incredibly nice.
Building had some issues but support team was quickly on top of it. Got on the phone and received great support from Carey Adams, who went above and beyond to help me out and solved our issue over the air, saving us the nightmare of waiting another day for a technician to come. Thanks Carey!
Interesting place. Went over there to return my equipment after cutting the cable cord. There was obvious attention to security, a couple doors with electrical latches and the employees were behind thick bulletproof glass. But I understand, that's the way the world is, people can get worked up about their TV.All that being said, in my own case there was no problem at all, the lady on duty was nice and got me in and out of there in 5 minutes and gave me a receipt. Can't ask for more these days.
