How long have you work for Children’s Learning Place?
I have been with Children’s Learning Place for six years now!
What made you you decide to pursue a career in childcare?
I originally started in the nanny sector for my company. I then moved to Puerto Rico for one year and prior to my return, they reached out to me and asked if I would like to join their team full-time when I returned.
How many locations does Children’s Learning Place have?
Currently, we have four that are open. We are hoping to launch our fifth location next year, fingers crossed!
How long have you been a member of Northalsted Business Alliance?
We’ve been a member since we opened in Boystown- about one year. I have also been an SSA Commissioner for the same amount of time.
What’s your favorite aspect of the SSA Commission?
I like having a say in the community. I think it is important to know where money is being spent and what type of improvement projects that are happening and I can be a part of.
What do you see for the future of our neighborhood?
I think there is going to be a lot of transition and integration. You see more and more families in the neighborhood and at neighborhood businesses. Both com-munities will enjoy being able to interact with each other and understand each other. There’s more to this community than entertainment. I think everyone will be able to complement each other by respecting and learning about different lifestyles.
Where is your favorite place to go in Boystown?
I love the dancing venues! Occasionally I get the opportunity to go to Latin Night at Circuit and I like going to Roscoe’s too. I have wanted to try The Den though!
How do you exude pride everyday?
When I walk down the street and can say hello to every person who passes me. I feel proud that I am part of community where I feel comfortable and welcomed every day on my way to work. I am also really proud of the relationship with my mother. I make sure I talk to her every day or visit her, she is very special to me.
What is something that people don’t know about you?
I am a licensed cosmetologist. Not many people know that part of my life, but I love doing updos for weddings and quinceaneras!
