Beautiful Boystown
The transition from September into October was especially beautiful in Boystown with three wonderful unveilings and dedications unique to our community.
Howard Brown Queer Mural
Chicago’s first large scale, 750 sq. ft. mural honoring the queer community and people of color was unveiled with Alderman Tunney at Howard Brown Health at Halsted and Melrose.
Artists Sandra Antongiorgi, Andy Bellomo, and Sam Kirk have completed the first of what they hope to be a series of LGBTQ tribute murals to open dialogue about queer culture with an emphasis on intersectionality.

Gill Park Playlot Ribbon Cutting
October brought the colorful new GIll Park Playlot ribbon cutting with Alderman Cappelman and Chicago First Lady Amy Rule.
Yoshi Katsumura Memorial

Friends came together on a beautiful September evening in memory of the late, great chef, Yoshi Katsumura for the unveiling of a Japanese lilac tree planted in his honor and dedication plaque donated by Northalsted located on Yoshi Katsumura Way, near the corner of North Halsted Street and Aldine Avenue.
The tree symbolizes Yoshi’s lasting legacy through inspirational service to the community from the kitchen of Yoshi’s Cafe Chicago celebrating its 36th anniversary in November.
