DJ Vlad.

Picking up music at the early age of five, Vlad took intensive piano, alto saxophone, and voice lessons. Vlad’s love for obnoxiously loud music began when he got his first sound system on his 9th birthday. His style was influenced by the mix tapes and live sets of DJ Marksi, DJ Caffeine, DJ Inphinity, DJ Rozz, DJ Flipside, DJ Bam Bam, and Tony Arzadon. At age thirteen, Vlad’s parents asked him to put his loud dance music to a more productive use, and asked him to DJ a surprise family party. He was a hit, and the North Shore Romanian community welcomed his services with open arms.

By fifteen, Vlad had already incorporated DJ V Entertainment, Ltd., employing a staff of DJs, dancers, administrative assistants, party planners, and setup personnel. Vlad trained DJs and held mixing workshops, as well as dance workshops for entertainers and emcees. Towards the end of his high school career, Vlad’s company was doing over 50 shows a year. From corporate events, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, to high school dances, car washes, and social events, Vlad and his company did it all. Vlad played club events at Warehouse nightclub, as well as one night rave events such as Raver’s Fantasy, Club 500, and Existence.

In college, he revolutionized the tailgate scene at Indiana University by having a complete show on the tailgate fields, with a generator, speakers, lights, and a live DJ. Soon, all of the other fraternities were forced to compete. Vlad soon became the Friday night headliner at Brother’s on Walnut, and played shows at Dunkirk and Club 902.

Back in Chicago, Vlad has performed at the Tavern on Rush, Whiskey Sky (W Chicago Rooftop Louge), Bar Umbriago, Newport Bar and Grill, Dillinger’s, The Alley in Highwood, Gabe’s Backstage Lounge, as well as being a Thursday night resident at Mad River.

Now having graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Vlad is a proud member of the Drop family, playing on Fridays and Saturdays. Vlad is also one of the “DJs of Scarlet,” and is a weekly resident at Halsted’s busiest dance bar.

Vlad loves EDM, Top 40s, and all kinds of throwbacks.
