Northalsted Visitors Guide

Chicago’ North Halsted Street corridor between Belmont Ave (3200 N.) and Irving Park / Broadway (4000 N.) has been the home and haven for LGBTQ+ communities throughout the worldwide Pride movement.

The Northalsted name is proudly engraved on the 20 steel rainbow pylons lining the street which house the Legacy Project. The project’s 40 bronze plaques memorialize important but often unsung LGBTQ+ contributions to our nation’s history. In 2019, the pylons and Legacy Project/Walk memorial were officially designated a Chicago landmark, making the Legacy Walk the world’s only outdoor LGBTQ+ history museum and forever honoring the LGBTQ+ community.
