What is SSA #18?

Established in 1997, Special Service Area #18 (SSA #18) is a special taxing district spanning from North Halsted from Belmont north to Grace, from Grace north to West Irving Park Road on Broadway, from Broadway north to Irving Park on Clarendon, and its environs (defined as to the alley on intersecting streets). Generated revenue from this taxing district is directed back to the neighborhood and is spent according to the annual SSA work plan. A Mayorally-appointed SSA #18 Commission, which is comprised of local property and business owners within the area, develops the work plan. Northalsted Business Alliance is the Sole Service Provider for SSA #18 and is responsible for implementing the SSA work plan.
